CASE STUDY

  • Need to find a surface treatment alternative to  coatings/harsh chemicals on stainless steel working surfaces on fish/poultry processing plants.

  • Initial pool of biomimetic microstructured functional surfaces (easy cleaning, very high WCA°), analysis and refining of optimal solution; definition, 3D drawing and implementation of optimal solution on a real demonstrator through femtosecond laser surface-ablation via an external provider.

  • Demonstrator with 20% less water & detergent usage for same cleanliness level / 20% less dirt for same water & detergent usage (tested under EN 1276, optical comparison of clean/dirt areas and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures).
