BIOMATERIAL NEW APPLICATION & MANUFACTURING

PROCESS DEFINITION

//Ananas Anam

CASE STUDY

  • Ananas Anam needed to define a new application for mechanically extracted PALF (pineapple leaf fiber), demonstrating its technical viability as a functional biomaterial and determining the process conditions required for its use in advanced structural applications.

  • A reliable manufacturing partner was identified, and the production process was defined through initial trials and subsequent optimization using physicochemical analysis. This work enabled the development of fully functional prototypes for validating composite part manufacturing, as well as the definition of the material’s Technical Data Sheet (TDS), pricing structure, and market positioning.

  • The project resulted in a new PALF-based material suitable for unidirectional (UD) tape reinforcement and an optimized manufacturing process in collaboration with an external contractor. Additionally, the project secured a €60,000 public grant supporting the development of this sustainable bio-basedmaterial application.
